Now if you want to use QuestZDOOM to play the original DOOM, DOOM II, Heretic, or Hexen, you can do that as well - including with some of the great mods available. The user interface isn’t great for VR, it’s basically a giant window that looks like an old-school PC game launcher, but it works well enough. It’s all pretty straight forward with lots of options.

From there you’ll select which core game files to launch, such as FreeDoom, followed by any other assets or mods you want to enable. Once installed, start the ‘launcher’ application from your list of Unknown Sources in the Library tab inside your headset. Reason: Additional reply, punctuation and formatting changes. You can either follow the links above or locate the launcher and the QuestZDOOM engine in SideQuest’s Games and Apps tab or search bar. Terminal is more efficient (and in some cases, faster!) for many things - launching games is not one of them. However, the Terminal thing is just a pain. I was gaming when this was "new", so for me it gives that "retro" feeling to the game (in saying that, the enhanced "Megaton Edition" of Duke Nukem 3D does look pretty good under Steam for Linux!). is this dos era? at least it could create a shortcut.I don't mind the 2D sprites. i've been trying to find similar launcher to kicks in linux but so far doesn't seem like it exists. it works but it's a distant echo compared to kicks on windows. in windows Kicks makes it easy to run&configure doom engine games, runs with openGL 3D models out of the box, with various openGL effects.

You are correct that the one in software center is ran from terminal. Is this any help with relation to where the WAD files should be placed? usr/share/deng/data/jheretic/jheretic.pk3 In saying this, I did find an interesting list of directories, called "doomsday.list". this i need to check at home to verify.I couldn't see a "./doomsday" folder in the Home folder, nor any clear sign of where the WADs should be placed. doomsday in home folder and you put the files somewhere inside that folder. I am not sure if i remember correctly, but i believe there should be a (hidden) folder.
